Saudis Resume Sporting Activities June 21

Having eased its lockdown over the COVID-19 spread in the Kingdom, Saudi Arabia is set to resume sporting activities behind closed doors from Sunday, June 21, 2020.

The decision was made following a coordination with a committee responsible for following up the status of coronavirus in the country, the Ministry of Sport said.

According to state media, the initial arrangement includes returning to training. The Sports Ministry also said clubs must apply all precautionary measures during the practices.

However, football competitions and regular matches will only restart after August 4, 2020 with decisions left in the hands of each sport’s union.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Ministry of Health reported 3,733 new confirmed coronavirus cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of infections to 116,021 cases.

It also said the country has recorded 2,065 recoveries, raising the total to 80,019.

Additionally, the Health Ministry said 38 new fatalities have been confirmed; bringing the total number of deaths to 857 – With agency reports
