BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) late on Wednesday night reported 404 new confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country, with the total number now jumping to  42,208 cases

Reports on its official Website also indicated that five deaths were recorded within the last 24 hours, thereby taking the fatality figure to 873 deaths nationwide.

According to the NCDC, “On the 29th of July 2020, 404 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria

“Till date, 42,208 cases have been confirmed, 19,004 cases have been discharged and 873 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)”

Of the 404 new cases that came in from 20 states of the federation, the statistics showed thus: Lagos (106), FCT (54), Rivers (48), Plateau (40), Edo (29), Enugu (21), Oyo (20), Kano (18), Ondo (15), and Ogun (10)

Others are: Ebonyi (9), Ekiti (8), Kaduna (6), Cross River (5), Kwara (4), Anambra (3), Delta (3), Imo (2), Nasarawa (2), and Borno (1)
