BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed late on Friday night that the country recorded 600 new cases of coronavirus COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
It said this latest figure now brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 35,454 nationwide
Though the health agency reported a reduced fatality figure at three (3) on Friday, the countrywide figure now stands at 772 deaths since the pandemic broke out in March 2020
According to statistics uploaded on the NCDC’s verified Twitter handle; “On the 17th of July 2020, 600 new confirmed cases and 3 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.”
The Centre disclosed that; “Till date, 35454 cases have been confirmed, 14633 cases have been discharged and 772 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)”
If further said the 600 new cases reported from 20 states of the federation in the last 24 hours indicated as follows: Lagos – (129), FCT – (118), Oyo – (87), Kano – (55), Benue – (42), and Enugu – (35).
Other states on the NCDC chart are: Kwara – (28), Imo – (16), Ogun – (13), Kaduna – (12), Ondo – (12), Delta – (11), Edo – (11), Plateau – (8), Nasarawa – (6), Ekiti – (6), Niger – (6), Borno – (4), Abia – (4), and Gombe – (3)
