COVID-19: NCDC Confirms 1,354 New Cases, Tally Hits 92,705 Mark
BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) late on Tuesday night confirmed 1,354 new infections of coronavirus (COVID-19) that has now taken the country’s tally to 92,705 cases.
The NCDC said on its official Twitter handle that as at Tuesday, January 5, 2021, “1,354 new confirmed cases and one (1) death’ were recorded in Nigeria.
It added that; “Till date, 92705 cases have been confirmed, 76396 cases have been discharged and 1319 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).”
Of the 1,354 fresh cases that were reported from 21 states of the federation; Lagos led with (712), FCT – (145), Plateau – (117), Kwara – (81), Kaduna – (54), Sokoto – (39), Oyo – (38), and Rivers – (37).
Other states listed are Gombe – (21), Enugu – (20), Akwa Ibom – (16), Bauchi – (14), Delta – (14), Ebonyi – (13), Anambra – (9), Taraba – (8), Edo – (8), Kano – (3), Osun – (2), Ekiti – (2) and Ogun – (1)

“Today, DG @Chikwe_I reiterated commitment to intensify efforts to manage increasing cases in-country, while acknowledging support from key stakeholders including religious leaders & the media. Let us work together to prevent the spread of #Lassafever.
“Be a guardian of proper sanitation in your community and promote frequent #Handwashing with soap and running water. Cover your foodstuff properly to avoid contamination by rodents.”
