COVID-19: NCDC Confirms 24 Deaths, 1,005 New Infections
BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) late on Friday confirmed 24 deaths and 1,005 new COVID-19 cases in the country.
With the latest development, Nigeria’s total number of infections has now risen to 144,521 with the fatality figures put at 1,710 deaths.
“Our discharges today include 408 community recoveries in Lagos State and 99 community recoveries in Plateau State managed in line with guidelines”, the disease outfit said on its official Twitter handle.
“On the 12th of February 2021, 1,005 new confirmed cases and 24 deaths were recorded in Nigeria”, the Centre further explained, adding; “Till date, 144,521 cases have been confirmed, 118,866 cases have been discharged and 1,734 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”
For the 1005 new cases reported from 19 states, NCDC’s breakdown indicated thus: Lagos – (204), Kwara – (155), Oyo – (124), Plateau – (80), FCT – (75), Edo – (56), Osun – (48), Ondo – (41), Kaduna – (40), and Rivers – (40).
Others included in the list are; Taraba – (35), Borno – (32), Ekiti – (21), Ogun – (20), Kano – (14), Bayelsa – (8), Delta – (7), Bauchi – (3) and Jigawa – (2)
