COVID-19 Update: NCDC Confirms 296 New Cases, Total Now 55,456

BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed that Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Nigeria went up by 296, with total infections rising to 55,456 nationwide.

The NCDC said on its official twitter handle late on Tuesday night that six deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours.

Highlights on the NCDC’s website showed that; “On the 8th of September 2020, 296 new confirmed cases and 6 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

“Till date, 55,456 cases have been confirmed, 43,334 cases have been discharged and 1067 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”

The Centre said of the 296 new cases reported from 15 states of the federation, Plateau led on the day’s infections’ chart with 183 cases, Lagos – (33), FCT – (25) and Ogun – (16).

Others captured are: Oyo – (7), Ekiti – (6), Kwara – (5), Ondo – (5), Imo – (3), Anambra – (3), Nasarawa – (3), Rivers – (2), Gombe – (2), Edo – (2) and Akwa Ibom – (1)
