COVID-19 Update: NCDC Confirms 410 New Cases, Total Hits 49,895

BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 410 new infections of coronavirus (COVID-19) with the countrywide tally now at 49,895 cases

Aside the 410 new cases, the NCDC said the nation also recorded four (4) deaths in the last 24 hours to take Nigeria’s total fatality figure from the deadly virus to 981 deaths

The Centre further stated in its verified Twitter handle @NCDCgov late on Tuesday night that 37,051 cases have been successfully treated and discharged from various isolation centres and hospitals.

According to the NCDC; “On the 18th of August 2020, 410 new confirmed cases and 4 deaths were recorded in Nigeria

“Till date, 49,895 cases have been confirmed, 37,051 cases have been discharged and 981 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”

It said of the 410 new cases coming from 16 states, the statistics indicated thus: Lagos (210), FCT (45), Ondo (30), Plateau (21), Edo (19), Ogun (16), Oyo (13) and Nasarawa (12)

Others are: Bauchi (11), Enugu (10), Kwara (7), Kaduna (6), Anambra (4), Ebonyi (3), Abia (2), and Rivers (1)
