COVID-19 Update: NCDC Confirms 675 New Cases, 20,919 Tally
BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – Rising figures on the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Nigeria are not abating as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says confirmed cases have jumped to 20,919 nationwide in the last 24 hours.
According to published statistics on its website, the Centre said on Monday, June 22, 2020, the country recorded 675 new cases with seven (7) deaths.
It further said that with no new state reporting a case in the last 24 hours, the numbers indicated that: “Till date, 20,919 cases have been confirmed, 7109 cases have been discharged and 525 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”
The NCDC also reported that as at late on Monday night, it has carried out tests on a total of 115,760 samples nationwide. The figure is up by 2,185 over the the reported number of 113,575 samples treated as at Sunday, June 21, 2020.
Giving a breakdown of the 675 new cases reported from 21 states across the country, the Centre said Lagos has (288) followed by Oyo with (76), Rivers – (56) Delta – (31), Ebonyi – (30) and Gombe – (28),
Also listed are: Ondo, Kaduna and Kwara with (20) cases each, Ogun – (17), FCT – (16), Edo – (13), Abia – (10), Nasarawa and Imo with Nine (9) cases each, Bayelsa, Borno and Katsina recorded Eight (8) cases each; Sokoto and Bauchi Three (3) cases each with Plateau having – Two (2) confirmed cases
