COVID-19 Update: NCDC Reports 103 Fatalities, 3,145 Confirmed Cases

BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says the country has now moved past 3,000 confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and still counting as at late Wednesday night.

According to the NCDC, with 195 new cases reported nationwide, Nigeria’s tally currently stands at 3,145 confirmed COVID-19 cases while the tested samples are now 21,208 in total.

Posting on NCDC’s verified Twitter handle early Thursday morning also indicated that fatalities have climbed to 103 deaths from 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Further updates by NCDC showed that with no new state reporting a case in the last 24 hours, the country sadly recorded five (5) deaths while 534 patients have been successfully treated and discharged from accredited hospitals and isolation centers across the country.

A breakdown of the 195 new cases indicated the figure came from 13 states with Lagos as the epicentre recording (82); Kano – (30); Zamfara – (19); and Sokoto – (18).

Other states on the roll call are: Borno – (10); Federal Capital Territory (FCT) – 9; Oyo – (8); Kebbi and Gombe – (5) cases each; Ogun – (4); Katsina – (3) with Kaduna and Adamawa reporting a case (1) each.
