BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI, ABUJA – With five deaths officially recorded on its website, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday, September 10 confirmed 197 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.

According to the NCDC, the 197 new infections have now taken the nation’s tally of confirmed cases to 55,829.

The Centre reported on its verified Twitter handle @NCDCgov that highlights of events in the last 24 hours indicated that; “On the 10th of September 2020, 197 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

“Till date, 55829 cases have been confirmed, 43810 cases have been discharged and 1075 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”

For the 197 new cases reported from 13 states of the federation, the breakdown showed thus: Plateau (83), Lagos (48), Kaduna (17), FCT (16), and Ogun (11).

Otthers on the infection chart are: Katsina (7), Imo (4), Edo (3), Nasarawa (3), Rivers (2), Bayelsa (1), Oyo (1), and Osun (1)
