Crisis Hits Oyo Govt. As Gov. Makinde’s Deputy Defects To APC
Following what political event watchers described as lack of needed unity of purpose and irreconcilable differences between Governor Seyi Makinde and his deputy, Mr. Rauf Olaniyan, there seems to be storm in the smooth administration of the Oyo State.
Accordingly, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Mr. Rauf Olaniyan has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
It was gathered that ahead of the 2023 governorship election, Makinde dropped his deputy as he opted for another member of the Peoples Democratic Party as his running mate.
Makinde’s running mate for the 2023 Governorship election in Oyo State is the chairman of the State Housing Corporation, Mr. Bayo Lawal.
Checks indicate that Deputy Governor Olaniyan had complained severally of being sidelined in the scheme of things by Makinde, stressing that worse of it, he was not given any chance during the selection of PDP candidates for the 2023 elections in the state.
