BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – A Senior Correspondent with the African Independent Television (AIT), Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair, has been appointed as an Ex-Officio member of the State Working Committee (SWC), Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Cross River State Council.
Zubair’s appointment, announced by the NUJ State Chairman, Comrade Nsa Gill, follows his unanimous acceptance by the Union’s members in a voice vote during their monthly Congress held at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Centre in Calabar, the Cross River capital.
According to Comrade Gill, Rasheedโs abilities stand him out as a hardworking, dependable, reliable, and true Nigerian who has contributed immensely to the growth of journalism as well as the socio-political development of Cross River State.
Welcoming Zubair on board the SWC’s train, the NUJ Chairman said; โI welcome my brother and friend, a long time Comrade in the struggle to move Cross River State Council forward and into the New Executive of this great Union. I have no doubt that Rasheed will join to progressively develop our great Union in the efforts to change it for the betterment of our members.โ
Responding to the appointment, Comrade Olanrewaju appreciated the Union’s leadership and elders for finding him worthy to be part of the newly elected Executive Committee of NUJ in the state.
Olanrewaju, who described Cross River State as his home, pledged to join the new exco in working hard to change the narrative of NUJ the for better.
Comrade Gill Nsa-led executive was elected on July 6, 2022, to take over from the immediate past administration that was led by Comrade Victor Udu of the State Ministry of Information Chapel.
