The Dangote Petroleum Refinery on Sunday, September 15, 2024 urged Nigerians to disregard what it described as a “malicious” statement by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC Ltd), over the cost of its petrol per litre.

It assured Nigerians of availability of quality petroleum product and putting an end to the endemic fuel scarcity in the country.

A statement by Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Refinery said that the statement by the NNPCL was misleading, mischievous, and deliberately aimed at undermining the milestone achievement recorded towards addressing energy insufficiency and insecurity, which has bedeviled the economy in the past 50 years.

Dangote which stated these while reacting to a statement by the NNPCL which said that it bought petrol from Dangote at N898 per litre, said that it sold the product to the NNPC Ltd in dollars with a lot of savings against what they are currently importing.

It therefore urged Nigerians to await a formal announcement on the pricing, by the Technical Sub-Committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries, appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which will commence on October 1, 2024, bearing in mind that their current stock of crude was procured in dollars.

According to Dangote; “It should also be noted that we sold the products to NNPCL in dollars with a lot of savings against what they are currently importing.

“With this action, there will be petrol in every local government area of the country regardless of their remote nature,” Chiejina explained.
