Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram, early Wednesday morning returned 105 girls kidnapped from Government Girls’ Science and Technical College compound, Dapchi, Yobe State a few weeks ago.

According to reports confirmed by the Presidency, the insurgents returned the girls in the same way they took them away using about nine vehicles.

Reports said confusion engulfed Dapchi area as the community members were seen running for cover when the terror group convoy carrying the girls appeared, dropping off a girl in a nearby village before driving into Dapchi town to release the remaining girls.

Information available said five of the girls are feared dead, but it is not clear if the Federal government negotiated the girls’ release by paying ransom to Boko Haram.

In confirming the release of the girls abducted by the terrorists sect, Boko Haram on February 19, 2018, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, promised to give further details on the development later.

He is quoted as saying; “Yes, the girls are being transported to safety. We will give details later. We thank God.”

The development is coming about one week after President Muhammadu Buhari visited the Dapchi school where the kidnapping took place.

During the visit last Wednesday, the President assured the abducted schoolgirls’ parents and guardians that his administration will not rest on its oars, until their wards return home safely.
