Defunct CPC Members Decry Marginalisation In PMB’s Govt

BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – Members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), from 17 Southern states of Nigeria, under the aegis ‘Southern Mandate of Nigeria’ (SMoN) on Tuesday declared that they deserved empowerment from the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

Rising from a crucial meeting in Benin, the Edo State capital, the SMoN emphatically said members would not relent in their efforts to get attention and made to partake in governance like members of other parties that formed the APC are currently benefitting.

A communiqué issued at the end of its meeting and signed by National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Ikonomwan Francis said it is imperative to state that the core members of the defunct CPC worked assiduously to make Buhari’s presidential aspiration a reality.

The group said; “The President must give our leaders (CPC) key roles in his cabinet. It is highly regrettable that our leaders like, Engineer Buba Galadima, Alhaji Sule Hamma, Engineer Badmos and a host of others, known to be the embodiment of General Muhammadu Buhari’s project, are not in the corridors of power of the government they had work very hard to come on board.

“A situation where the hen that lays the golden eggs is left to feed on crumbs is no longer acceptable to us. It is now a known trend that our leaders who had consistently secured 12.5million votes for President Buhari from 2003-2015 are now relegated into board of Governing Council of tertiary institutions.

“We of the Southern Mandate of Nigeria are saddened that our leaders, who provided political technicalities for the eventual emergency of this administration, are not appointed into key positions in the government they laboured to install, while exotic positions of Ministers, Director Generals, MDs, Executive Secretaries of Agencies, Parastatal’s and Commissions and Chairmen of viable boards are given to people who stood against the wheel of our progress.”

The SMoN, who insisted they were core members of the defunct CPC, said while praying fervently for the quick recovery of the President, they would be left with no option than to take their advocacy to highly revered traditional rulers in all parts of Nigeria to help them prevail on President Buhari to grant their request.
