DSS Questions Publisher of NewsDairy Online-Nmodu Over A Story On Ecological Find Projects
The Publisher of Newsdiary Online, Mr. Danlami Nmodu, was a guest of the Department of State Services (DSS), on Thursday over an investigative story on the Kano Ecological Fund projects.
He was guest of the DSS during which time he was questioned over the story and later asked to take a leave of the Service.
When contacted on phone at about 1:08pm by Forefront News, Nmodu said he was not detained by the DSS after questioning and had left the headquarters of the Service where he was invited to report.
Nmodu’s invite came through a telephone call to his line on Wednesday morning by an operative of the Service who requested him to make himself available at the headquarters of the Agency in Abuja for questioning either same Wednesday or Thursday.
A DSS operative pointedly told Nmodu that he is being invited in respect of a story he recently published on his Online with the headline; “Diplomatic backlash, legal tussle loom as FG dumps German firm over Kano Project.”
The story attracted the attention of the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, which made some clarification and gave further details through a rejoinder which Newsdairy online published as well.
Interestingly, the online newspaper was among those invited for an on-the-spot assessment of the Challawa, Sharada and Bompai N2.6 billion ecological projects in Kano following the aftermath of the Newsdiary online story.
It was gathered that that the Secret Service may be concerned with how some documents quoted by Newsdiary online got leaked.
Nmodu, who is the editor-in-chief, is a member of the National Institute, Nigeria’s highest policy think tank institution, Nigeria Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies.
