DSS Rescues Factional NANS’ President AS 2 Ex-Govs Escaped Fracas
The swift move and intervention of the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) which led to the rescue of a factional president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah from a free for all clash on Tuesday, the situation would have gotten out of hands.
This followed the attempt by the Comrade Isah-led faction of the NANS to inaugurate its factional executives at the Carlton Hotel, Asokoro which the other faction opposed to it were determined to stop that would have ended in a free for all.
A dependable security source told Forefront News trouble broke out when another faction of the NANS led by Comrade Olusola Ladoja stormed the Wells Carlton hotel, Abuja, venue of the parallel inauguration, resulting in members of both factions engaging in fisticuffs.
It was gathered that some notable guests at the hotel, including Ibrahim Shekarau and Idris Wada, who were former governors of Kano and Kogi States respectively, as well as students, reportedly scampered for safety, even as both camps continued the free for all.
Following the free for all, one Mustspha (aka Musty) reportedly sustained a cut on his right arm.
Forefront News also gathered that the Ladoja’s group later overpowered Isah’s faction and ended up whisking him away, a development that led DSS operatives to quickly trailed the group and rescued Isah, who by this time had sustained several machete cuts.
It was also gathered that the DSS Operatives also recovered a pistol and machete from the scene and are presently probing the ownership of the weapons.
Checks by Forefront News indicated that Isah is responding to treatment at a security hospital.
The Isah and Ladoja groups had on the heels of parallel NANS national conventions held on February 27, 2025, in Abuja, both claimed victory and have since been laying claim to being the body’s national President.
