BY EDMOND ODOK, ABUJA – As tension heightens ahead of the September 19 Edo State Governorship election, President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag-bearer, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu at the Presidential Villa Abuja.
Led to the Presidential Villa by Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the APC and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Malla Buni, the APC governorship candidate was also accompanied by Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, who chairs the National Campaign committee for the Edo polls.
Also on the entourage is Governor of Kebbi State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Atiku Bagudu
Speculations were also rife that the former Lagos State Governor and APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was expected to be part of team that is to brief the President on the Party’s preparedness for the Edo election.
Party insiders hinted that the President will also be briefed on current happenings in the South South state in relations to the crisis in the House of Assembly
Competence sources stated that the APC gubernatorial standard bearer is expected to formally receive Mr President’s blessings and officially invite him to attend the grand campaign flag-off for the forthcoming elections.
A source said President Buhari’s presence and active participation in the campaign is considered the much-needed verve to further ginger the APC campaign machinery and curry wider acceptability from the Edo electorate.
