BY SEGUN ADEBAYO, ABUJA – Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr Timipre Sylva, says Edo State is yearning for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to reclaim its diverted mandate in the September 19, 2020 governorship election in the State.

Accordingly, the party’s South South stakeholders have made commitment and agreed to work hard towards honouring the cravings and passion of Edo people in the forthcoming election

Sylva spoke shortly after the Contact and Mobilisation Committee of the APC National Campaign Council for Edo gubernatorial poll was inaugurated on Tuesday at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

He expressed confidence that the State, taken from the party through the back door it, would be recovered in September, adding; “All of us in the South-South believe that this election must be won.”

The former Bayelsa State governor, who is chairing the Contact committee, further said; “It is our stronghold in the region, and therefore we are all geared up, we will all go to Edo State for the victory party.

“We want to assure that no one should entertain any doubt that Edo will return to being an APC state, come the election in September.

“Election is not all about finance. First, if you say the power of incumbency, it is an APC incumbency that has been stolen by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“So, that kind of incumbency has coma, and that is why we believe that such incumbency will not work in this election.”

The Minister further said; “The Edo people know that the state is for APC and I want to assure you that we are in touch with our people in Edo.”

Giving assurances to the Party’s National Caretaker Committee that victory beckons in the South South state for APC, Sylva said; ”We know that we are the dominant party in Edo and we are going to win this election come Saturday, September 19, 2020.”
