Edo Guber Race: APC Screening Committee Disqualifies Gov Obaseki

The All Progressive Congress (APC) screening committee has disqualified the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, and two others from participating in the forthcoming party’s governorship primaries scheduled for Monday, June 22, 2020

According to the screening committee, Governor Obaseki is unfit to take part in the primaries on the grounds that his HSC and NYSC certificates are defective.

Presenting the screening committee’s report to APC National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, at the Party National Secretariat in Abuja on Friday, its Chairman, Jonathan Ayuba, said two other aspirants were also disqualified from the race while three persons will slug it out for the party’s gubernatorial ticket.

The aspirants screened by the committee are Governor Obaseki, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Pius Odubu, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, Chris Ogiemwonyi and Osaro Obazee

In his remarks, APC National Chairman, Comrade Oshiomhole, praised the committee for a job well done, even as he advised all aggrieved aspirants to register their grievances with the appeal committee.

Reports said also affected by the Committee’s recommendations is Engineer Chris Ogiemwonyi who was disqualified over discrepancy in the names on his credentials.

However, former Deputy Governor, Dr Pius Odubu; former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag-bearer in the 2017 elections, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu; and Osaro Obazee were cleared to contest for the party’s gubernatorial ticket.
