Edo NUJ Applauds Gov. Obaseki’s Support To Journalists
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has expressed gratitude to the state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki for his unflinching support to the union over the years.
Chairman of the Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, who stated the position of the Union when Governor Obaseki visited the NUJ Press Centre, Benin City, also prayed the Governor to sustain his support for the union.
Obaseki’s visit to the Press Centre in Benin City was to hang out with journalists and solicit their continuous support to the state government.
The governor said that his visit to the NUJ’s secretariat was to further strengthen the bond between the state government and journalists in the state.
Obaseki lauded the NUJ’s leadership for its giant strides, including the sanity that the Alenkhe-led executive brought into journalism practice in the state.
He particularly lauded the infrastructural development which the present leadership of the Edo State NUJ brought to bear at the Press Centre, describing it as an uncommon transformation.
The According to the Governor, the vision of the Comrade Alenkhe-led NUJ in the area of physical development is in line with the Make Edo Great Again (MEGA) agenda of the present Edo state government and assured the journalists that his administration would continue to identify with the union at all times.
During the visit, Governor Obaseki announced the provision of a Coaster Bus to the NUJ and the installation of internet facility to the Press Centre, using the state government installed fibre.
Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of a compendium of qualified members of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and a guided tour of the NUJ Press Centre where the Governor freely interacted with guests of the union and visitors alike.
