Edo: Okpebholo Appoints Fred Itua As Chief Press Secretary
The Edo State Governor-Elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo has appointed a journalist with the Dun Newspapers, Fred Itua as his Chief Press Secretary.
The appointment which is the first major decision of Okpebholo ahead of his inauguration, takes effect from Tuesday, November 12, 2024, thereby signaling a strong commitment to transparent governance, responsive communication, and engaging with the public.
Itua, An Assistant Political Editor with The Sun Newspapers, has over 13 years of experience in media and public affairs, and also Known for his in-depth reporting and analytical skills.
Itua, who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and a Master’s degree in Media Arts from the University of Abuja, is presently finalising his Ph.D. thesis in Development Communication at Veritas University, Abuja.
A seasoned writer, journalist, and media and communications consultant, has anchored the Inside The Red Chamber, an online television programme, and co-host of the radio show Bottom Line.
He demonstrates a dynamic on-air presence and a comprehensive understanding of the media landscape and has extensive background which included, coverage of the National Assembly, Migration, Health, Anti-corruption, and Environmental issues, thereby providing him with in-depth knowledge of both national and international affairs.
His strong foundation in public relations and communication strategy enables him to build and sustain strategic relationships across government, media, and public sectors effectively.
His background is expected to enhance the governor’s ability to clearly communicate policies, manage information, and ensure the public remains informed about government initiatives and responses.
