BY SEGUN ADEBAYO –  Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, says recent outcome of the Edo State governorship election should not be misconstrued as his downfall because faith in God remains the ultimate.

He maintained that no matter the outcome of any electoral process, Nigerians must have faith in God; have faith their country and make democracy work.

Since the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s declaration of Governor Godwin Obaseki as re-elected, expectations have been running high awaiting Comrade Oshiomhole’s reaction to his party’s electoral defeat in the September 19, 2020 poll.

And in a brief video capturing his thoughts, Comrade Oshiomhole said contrary to what many would want to think or believe that he is down, he is emerging from the exercise stronger and more fulfilled knowing democracy continues to gain the desired foothold in the country.

Making reference to the commitment shown by elderly and women voters to the exercise, the former Edo State governor applauded their sacrifices and efforts to vote despite obvious challenges.

Most likely recorded at a fitness centre, Oshiomhole, in the one minute video clip, said; “In life, there is a super highway, you work hard, and believe God for the outcome. You do your best and trust God to bless your efforts.

“I feel good; I feel healthy and I thank God. I feel strong, I thank God. In life, you win some and you lose some, but life goes on.”

The reaction however did not touch on recent tough talks and later appeal by Governor Godwin Obaseki for the APC candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and members to join his administration in moving the State forward.

The former Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, in thanking everyone that participated in the exercise, said those thinking he is down must be disappointed, because “once God says you are not down, you are not down, and I am not down,”
