Following the increase in the pump price of petroleum and the geometric hike in electricity tariff which has forced the Labour movement in Nigeria to issue threat of industrial action, the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) has scheduled an emergency meeting for 6:00pm today being Thursday.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have demanded and insisted on reversal of the increases by the Federal Government or be ready for a total industrial action that would paralyse the nation.

Base on the development, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum is holding an emergency meeting of all the governors to seek ways of settling the rift and finding a mutually agreed soft landing on amicable grounds.

A statement by the Director General of the Forum, Mr Asishana Bayo Okauru and released by the Head of Media, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, said that all governors are expected to attend the crucial meeting as the matter is considered to be of urgent national importance, which needs to be quickly resolved in order not to worsen the already bad situation of Nigerians as caused by the Corona Virus pandemic.

The statement further stated that the meeting which is the first NGF emergency virtual teleconference starts at 6pm, Thursday September 25
