The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Federal Capital Territory FCT) Council, comrade Grace Ike has said that the commitment demonstrated by Muslim faithful throughout the fasting period is both commendable and inspiring, particularly in fostering values that promote peaceful coexistence and social harmony.
This was as comrade Ike encouraged leaders at all levels to reflect on the lessons of sacrifice and service which Ramadan embodies, and to prioritise policies and actions that promote inclusiveness, accountability, and the overall well-being of Nigerians.
She noted that Ramadan represents a period of deep spiritual reflection, self-discipline, sacrifice, and renewed devotion to the service of humanity.
The NUJ FCT Council chairman who stated these while felicitating with all Muslim faithful in the nation’s capital on the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan, urged Muslim brothers and sisters in the profession to sustain the virtues of patience, tolerance, compassion, and generosity imbibed during Ramadan.
She noted that the values are critical in strengthening unity within our communities and advancing the collective interest of our nation.
Ike said; “This occasion also provides an opportunity for all Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, to embrace the spirit of unity and mutual respect.
“Our diversity remains one of our greatest strengths, and we must continue to harness it for national development and cohesion.
“I call on citizens to extend acts of kindness to the less privileged, remembering that Eid is not only a time of celebration, but also a season of sharing and empathy. Let us reach out to those in need and reaffirm our shared humanity,” she said.
Comrade Ike urged citizens that while celebrating, they should do so responsibly and in accordance with public safety guidelines.
She wished all Muslim faithful a peaceful, joyful, and fulfilling Eid-el-Fitr celebration and prayed that the blessings of the season bring renewed hope, unity, and prosperity to our dear nation.
