Ekiti State 7th Assembly Sets Up Committee On Legislative Agenda

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – The Ekiti State House of Assembly has set up a six-man Ad-hoc committee with the mandate to produce a legislative agenda for the 7th Assembly.

This was contained in a statement by the member representing Ado 1 Constituency, Hon. Ayodeji Adegbite, made available to Journalists in Bauchi on Wednesday.

Adegbite said that the creation of the Committee was made public by the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye during the 2nd plenary session of the recently inaugurated Assembly.

Adegbite also said that the Committee which is to be chaired by him, was expected to commence consultative process of developing a blueprint to guide the 7th Assembly that would be aligned with the development agenda of the Governor Biodun Oyebanji-led APC administration in Ekiti State.

He said that this was to ensure coherence and robust Executive – Legislative collaboration, in order to advance accelerated development in Ekiti State, adding that the committee would take into consideration, the agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration to ensure that Ekiti is better positioned to optimise benefits from the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Adegbite further said that the committee would work with the executive arm of government to come up with an executive/legislative agenda, stressing that the Speaker was committed to positioning the 7th Assembly to be a model sub-national parliament in Africa, hence, the creation of the legislative agenda.

He also said; “I have no doubt that with the pedigree of the members, we will deliver on the mandate to produce a legislative agenda that would be a reflection of the aspirations of our people”.

Other members of the committee included; Hons. Abimbola Solanke, Babatunde Oke, Omotayo Babatunde and ldowu Odebunmi while Mr. Ogunmosunle Bankole would serve as the Secretary.
