Election In Nasarawa: Adokwe Accuses Al-makura Of Plans To Disrupt Results Collation
BY BABA AHMED, LAFIA – The senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for Nasarawa south, Senator Suleiman Adokwe has accused the Nasarawa state government of planning to disrupt collation of results in the state particularly his senatorial district.
Adokwe said main opponent, who is Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is using agencies of government to sabotage the process and procedure being carried out by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in ensuring free and fair elections.
He said he has reported the matter to the security agencies to take note of threats to prevent collections of results.
According to him; “I am happy that the state Commissioner of police is going round to ensure that the threat to disrupt collation of results is aborted because we have reports of some agents of government planning to disrupt the process.
“We are having fears that the elections might not be concluded till the hours of the night and miscreants might cash in and hijack the process and snatch results especially in remote areas”.
He explained that the PDP has already reported cases of results sheet swap and inadequate ballot papers in some polling units.
Adokwe said that he will stay awake for the next 48 hours to monitor the outcome of the elections to avoid any sabotage of the exercise adding that his party will surely come out victorious at the end of
the exercise.
He also said that desperate politicians are planning to adulterate the process to blackmail INEC and discredit the empire before the public and therefore called on security agencies not to be deterred in carry out their duty as well as ensure that the exercise is successful in line with global
standards.
Efforts to get reactions from the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mohammed Abdullahi did not yield any result as his telephone line was switched off.
