INEC eyes amended electoral act

BY BABA AHMED, LAFIA – Former speaker of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for Nasarawa/Toto Federal constituency, Hon Musa Ahmed Mohammed, has said that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should as a matter of national importance tender an apology to Nigerians over the postponement of the 2019 general elections.
Speaking to newsmen in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa state while reacting to the postponement, Mohammed said that no amount of postponement will stop the PDP from winning the 2019 general elections.
He said that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is nervous over the popularity of the
PDP and therefore making every possible means to stop the PDP.
In his words; “No postponement will deter the PDP from winning the elections,”
He noted that the postponements is wrong and will create bad impression considering the time the announcement was made to the public.
“It is very normal that where INEC feels that they are not duly prepared for the election, they have the right to postponed the election but the postponement of today’s election is wrong because it should have come in the afternoon not to allow people engaged in the preparatory aspect before announcement.
“But no matter the postponement, PDP will still win the elections and come out victorious at the end,”  he said.
Mohammed said the action of INEC has caused a lot of setback for some people who had abandon their duty post to travel home and cast their votes only to be told at the last minute that the elections has been postponed.
He concluded by saying; “INEC needs to apologies to Nigerians, to political parties, because is not only about opposition alone but about every person in Nigeria.”
