The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the March 9 governorship poll in Yobe State, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, says there will be no reason to challenge the outcome at the Election Petition Tribunal.

According to him; “There may be areas and issues that bedeviled the elections, but a winner has emerged and that has been announced.

“We have no option but to accept it as the will of God and move forward.”

Speaking in Damagum after a PDP stakeholders’ forum to review the gubernatorial results, Iliya said the emergence of Mai Mala Buni of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Yobe State governor-elect has been accepted by him.

The PDP flag-bearer said his team had already felicitated with the governor-elect over his electoral victory, adding; “I have congratulated MaiMala, the governor-elect and called on him to look at Yobe as his entire constituency, knowing that God has given him this opportunity.”

He however stated that the governor-elect must deploy the mandate for the overall good of the Yobe people, irrespective of their political differences.

While commending PDP’s supporters as well as political actors in the state for their peaceful conduct before, during and after the elections, Iliya said all hands must be on deck to move the state forward in terms of physical development and economic growth within the next four years
