As the Premier League gets set for its June 17, 2020 resumption date, Nigerian football fans and pundits alike are excited as highlights of Manchester United training show former international, Odion Ighalo, already in the thick of action.

The Shanghai Shenhua of China forward, who recently extended his Old Trafford’s stay until January 2021, was seen in action alongside club captain, Harry Maguire and Mason Greenwood at United’s exclusive training ground.

Midfield duo of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, both took part in the training session, with many fans waiting eagerly to see just how the pair will link up when the Premier League hostilities return.

Those also sighted on ground include: Fred, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Luke Shaw, Daniel James and Brandon Williams.

United were looking to continue their preparations for the premier league restart with another intra-squad match at Carrington on Tuesday that followed the late cancellation of their friendly against Stoke City.

The Red Devils played in an intra-squad friendly behind closed doors at Old Trafford over the weekend and were scheduled to face Championship side Stoke on Tuesday, but that match was called off at the last minute, with Stoke later confirming that manager Michael O’Neil had tested opositive for covid-19.

With that match called off, Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted against wasting the afternoon, and instead appeared to pit his first-team players against each other once again, with images emerging of two teams going head to head in full home and away kit.

However, there was no linking up on Tuesday, with Solskjaer seemingly opting to place them on different teams once again.

United resume their top-flight campaign against Tottenham Hotspur on Friday, June 19 and will be full of confidence, having embarked upon an 11-match unbeaten run prior to the league’s suspension in March.

Face-to-face with former United’s Manager, Jose Mourinho, in this reverse fixture, Solskjaer will be desperate getting off to a good start as his side seek to leapfrog Chelsea in the battle for a top-four finishing and Champions League spot at the end of season.

Tottenham will be looking to gain revenge on United when the teams meet once again in north London next Friday.

Both sides had met back in December at Old Trafford and it was a night that Mourinho and his squad would not forget in a hurry as they lost the encounter 2-1 with Marcus Rasford scoring a brace to emerge match hero on the night. With agency reports
