BY BECKY OLAJIDE, ABUJA – The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev Yakubu Pam has declared that the era when Christians showed indifference in political matters in the country is over.

This was just as he decried the activities of those he described as ‘the enemies’ of the country who take relish in causing pains for others by perpetuating evil and killing innocent and harmless Nigerians even in places of worship.

Rev Pam therefore enjoined Christians in the country to ensure they obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card to enable them participate in the 2023 General Elections.

Rev Pam, who gave the advice on Sunday, June 19, 2022 in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau state during the inauguration service of the Assembly of God, Northern Nigeria, Mangu District, admonished Christians in the country to take their destiny into their hands by voting during the election and be voted for.

Pam, who is also the General Superintendent of the Assembly of God, Northern Nigeria (AGNN), noted that their full participation in the electoral process cannot be possible without having their PVCs.

He explained that with their PVCs, they would be able to vote for the candidates of their choice and therefore appealed to Christians all over the country to take the issue of PVC seriously.

Pam affirmed that we have come to a time when the citizenry no matter their religious beliefs must obey the laws of the land, adding that it is incumbent on every Christian to obtain his or her PVC and be part of the new reengineering political process in the country.

The NCPC boss particularly appealed to Christians to ensure they participate actively in the 2023 General Election.

Pam congratulated Nigerians for the success recorded in the just concluded political parties primaries in the country, adding that he was particularly happy that the primaries were not marred by crisis which explains why the results were accepted by all.

A statement by Celestine Toruka, Head Media and Public Relations of the NCPC, said that Rev Pam also noted that the security situation in the country is precarious and dangerous but prayed that the Lord would heal the country.

Inaugurating the new executive members of the Assembly of God Northern Nigeria, Mangu District, Rev Pam prayed for them and tasked them to be strong, bold, courageous and have faith in God.
