BY SEGUN ADEBAYO, ABUJA – The political bickering and contestations within the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) exploded on Monday with Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Speaker House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and over 50 other top shots of the Party set to dump the Party.
Competent sources said the group that met to consider its future participation in the democratic governance ahead of the 2019 general elections has in its fold Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal; former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso among other former members of the New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP).
Insiders hinted that the group, comprising many serving federal and State lawmakers as well as veteran politicians, is currently eyeing an imminent return to their former abode, the PDP, as discussions have reached advanced stage to determine their political future.
Forefront sources stated that piqued by current happenings in the Party, particularly the boastful renditions of some APC Governors and chieftains in the media describing them as noisemakers and spent forces, the meeting agreed to chart a new way forward that would prove to doubting ‘Thomases’ their relevance in the nation’s political sphere come 2019.
It was gathered that the meeting however decided to step down any definite decision due to what insiders described as the “current reaching out” engagements being engineered by the newly inaugurated Comrade Adams Oshiomhole-led APC National Working Committee.
Aside Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Speaker Dogara, Governor Aminu Tambuwal and Senator Kwankwaso, other notable names at the meeting were: Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola; Admiral Murtala Nyako (Rtd); Senator Mohammad Adamu Aliero, Senator Danjuma Goje and Senator John Owan Enoh.
Others include: Senator Emmanuel Andy Uba, Senator Dr. Ibrahim Gobir, Senator Rufai Ibrahim, Senator Ibrahim A. Danbaba, Senator Suleman Nazif, and Senator Isa Hamma Misau,
Also featuring prominently at the meeting are: Sen. Muhammed Ubali Shitu, Sen. Shehu Sani, Sen. Dino Melaye, Sen. Suleiman O. Hunkuyi, Sen. Shaaba Lafiagi, Sen. Bala Ibn Na’Allah, Sen. David Umaru, Sen. Barnabas Gemade and Alhaji Abubakar K Baraje, Chairman Former nPDP.
