- Adeosun Meets NNPC GMD on funds’ remittal
BY EDMOND ODOK, ABUJA – Serious disputations by the 36 states over accruals into the Federation Account for the month of February 2018 on Tuesday resulted in the Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), Mrs Kemi Adeosun reconvening the Committee’s meeting for Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 9:00am.
Scheduled for the Federal Ministry of Finance Auditorium, the meeting will be attended by Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Mr Ahmed Idris; Commissioners of Finance and Accountant-Generals of the 36 States of the Federation.
According to Oluyinka Akintunde, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Minister of Finance, also expected at the meeting are representatives of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), among others.
Akintunde further said in a statement issued on Tuesday night that the Minister has also scheduled an emergency meeting next week with the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mr Maikanti Baru, and key management over revenue payment into the Federation Account.
The FAAC meeting was inconclusive on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 as the State Finance Commissioners and Accountant-Generals seriously disputed revenue figures for distribution in the Federal Account, a development that necessitated the Minister’s intervention.
