Family Sets Nov 25 Burial Date For Baba Suwe In Lagos
BY CHINYERE OBIORA, LAGOS – Adesola Omidina, a son of late veteran Nigerian comic actor, Baba Suwe, has announced Thursday, November 25, 2021, as the burial date for his father who passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021.
According to Adesola, who is also an actor, the interment will commence at the deceased residence at 26, Oluwatimiro Street, Ewu Elepe Bustop, Ijede Road, Ikorodu, Lagos, by 10 am prompt.
Taking to his Instagram page, a statement e-signed by Adesola, on behalf of the family, however, stated that the final funeral rites for the 63-year-old deceased Nollywood actor would be announced at a later date.
The statement also said Baba Suwe is survived by his children, grandchildren, his aged mother, and other family members.
Born Babatunde Omidina, Baba Suwe became popular after he featured in Iru Esin, produced by Olaiya Igwe in 1997. He also featured in and produced several Nigerian movies such as Baba Jaiye Jaiye, a movie that featured Funke Akindele and Femi Adebayo.
However, in a highly celebrated case, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), had in 2011 slammed cocaine trafficking accusation on Baba Suwe.
But the Lagos State High Court, in its ruling, described as allegations as “false and defamatory”, awarding cost against the drugs enforcement agency.
