A farmer identified as Baba Yakubu, was last Thursday, June 19, 2025, reportedly hacked to death in his farm located in Mai Kwari village in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory allegedly by Fulani herdsmen.
The late Yakubu was said to have challenged the herders who moved their cows into his cassava farm and caused so much destruction.
This was confirmed by Mallam Danjuma Ishaku, a relation of the deceased, who said the sad incident started when some herders moved their animals into a cassava farm, and the deceased rushed to question one of them for allowing cows into his farm.
Ishaku explained that one of the cows was then struck by the late Yakubu with his cutlass after the herders disregarded his call to get the cows out of his farm.
However, in a sharp response, one of the herders immediately pulled out a cutlass and stabbed the farmer.
It was gathered that one of the sons of the late Yakubu, who narrowly escaped the attack by the herdsmen, was the person that gave details of what took place in his father’s farm.
The deceased was later rushed to Kwaita Clinic, where he was confirmed dead.
The case was reported to the police for proper investigation and possible arrest and prosecution of perpetrators.
