Federal Inland Revenue Service Board Sacks Directors
BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – The board of Directors of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has approved the compulsory retirement of all of its Directors that have served for up to eight years.
Accordingly, the board approved the appointment of four Coordinating Directors and two Group Leads in an acting capacity.
These were contained in a statement by the Director of Communications and Liaison Department of the FIRS, Abdullahi Ahmad, in which he explained that the move is part of ongoing-internal reforms to reposition the Service towards achieving its N8.5tn tax target.
Ahmad explained that the FIRS Board took the decisions at its emergency meeting No. 2 that took place on Friday, March 20, 2020.
He said; “The meeting also approved the retirement of all directors who have served for eight years and above as directors in the Service, in line with Para 10.1(a)(iii) of Human Resources Policy and Programmes of the FIRS statute.”
