As part of efforts to mend fences following the outcome of the presidential primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party and choice of a running mate to Atiku Abubakar, the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Philip Aduda on Thursday led the leadership of the PDP in the Senate to meet with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in Port Harcourt.
Senator Aduda, who has been a long-time ally of Governor Wike was nominated as Minority Leader on Tuesday following the defection of Senator Enyinaya Abaribe from the PDP to APGA.
Other Senators that accompanied Aduda on the visit include the Senate Deputy Minority Leader – Shuaibu Lau, Minority Whip – Chukwuka Utazi and the Deputy Minority Whip, Senator Danjuma La’ah as well as Senator Barry Mpigi from Rivers State, who was also on ground to receive the PDP Senators.
The meeting between Governor Wike and the PDP Senators was held behind closed doors.
The Aduda-led senators who arrived at about 3:10 pm, departed after the meeting at about 6 pm without revealing the outcome of the meeting and or purpose of their visit.
Governor Wike has become the political bride since after the choice of a vice presidential candidate by the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, who picked Governor Okowa of Delta State as his running mate for the 2023 General Elections.
Among those that visited and held meeting with Governor Wike, include the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi and former Minister of Niger Delta, Elder Godsday Orubebe, who recently dumped the PDP.
