FG Moves 2016 Budget Tenure to May 5
BY COBHAM NSA, ABUJA – The Federal Government on Thursday moved to ensure continuous implementation of year 2016 Budget until May 5, 2017 or passage of 2017 Appropriation Bill by the National Assembly.
To avoid obvious disruption in the release of funds for capital expenditure pending the 2017 budget passage, Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun said a circular to that effect has been issued by the Accountant-General of the Federation, Alhaji Idris Ahmed.
According to a circular, tenure of the capital elements of the 2016 Budget has been extended till ‘May 5, 2017 or the passage of the 2017 Budget, whichever is the earliest.’
In a statement signed by Salisu Na’inna Dambatta, Director (Information), Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs Adeosun said all ‘Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are hereby urged to take note of the content of the Circular.’
