BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi, has announced the reduction of the cost of procedure from ₦40,000 to ₦12,000 per session.
The ATBUTH management said the development which is as part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, is aimed at offering relief to the patients who are grappling with kidney-related ailments.
It is also part of the bold steps taken by ATBUTH to address the financial challenges faced by patients requiring kidney dialysis on a daily basis.
This was contained in a statement by Abdullahi Koli, Head of Public Relations Unit of the Hospital, stating that the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Yusuf Bara Jibrin, expressed optimism over the programme’s impact.
Prof Jibrin said that the initiative is expected to significantly reduce the financial strain on families and improve the overall health outcomes for patients.
He also said that the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare had ensured the availability of consumables in large quantities, and also provided a new dialysis machine to support the hospital’s efforts.
According to Jibrin; “This initiative showcases the government’s commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to all, especially during these trying times.
“Over 45 beneficiaries have already accessed the subsidized services, with many expressing profound gratitude for the intervention,” he said.
The CMD said that by equipping the hospital with required and needed facilities, ATBUTH is now poised to deliver uninterrupted services to a growing number of patients from Bauchi and neighbouring states.
Jibril further said that the initiative aligned with the hospital’s mission of providing affordable and high-quality healthcare while strengthening public trust in the healthcare system.
He assured the public that ATBUTH will continue to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to sustain and expand similar programs for the benefit of all citizens.
