EDO: Gov Okpebholo Signs Two Impactful Bills Into Law
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has signed two significant bills into law, marking a new phase in the State’s Judiciary and oil sector governance.
The first bill raised the retirement age of magistrates in the State from 60 to 65 years.
The Governor also assented to a bill that increased the number of members of the State’s oil agency.
The two bills signed newly-signed bills are expected to take immediate effect.
This legislative move is aimed at enhancing the efficiency and experience of the judiciary by allowing seasoned magistrates to serve longer, thereby improving the administration of justice in the State.
A statement by Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Edo State, said that the expansion is expected to improve governance, representation, and operational efficiency within the agency as well as ensured better management of the State’s oil resources and foster economic growth.
Speaking while assenting to the Bills, Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening institutions that drive justice and economic development.
Okpebholo said that the legislative actions align with the State’s vision of enhancing judicial integrity and optimizing the benefits of its natural resources for the people of Edo State.
