… As perplexed speaker suspects sabotage

In what appeared a ‘strange’ fire on Monday morning gutted the Kogi State House of Assembly complex consuming office properties worth billions of naira.

The state which had for over two weeks been battling tragedy caused by massive flooding like never experienced before is again further plunged into another disaster by the mysterious fire on Monday that completely gutted the roof of the Assembly Chamber as well as caused an extensive damage to the floor of the legislative house located at Crusher Area of Lokoja, te state capital.

Speaking on the devastation caused by the strange fire incident, the Speaker of the House, Hon. Mathew Kolawole, said that he suspect sabotage by some forces working against the state but did not volunteer further angle that may lead to the detection of the cause of the fire.

Kolawole and the Security Adviser to the Governor, Commander Jerry Omodara, who were among the early callers at the scene of the disastrous fire that gutted the House of Assembly complex, however said it is only appropriate to allow security agencies to unravel the cause of the strange fire.

In the words of Kolawole; “We should leave security people to do their work and give us a report going forward”.

In the same vein, an eye witness who does not want his name in print, told Forefront News that it is difficult for now to determine the actual cause of the fire as a wild inferno just erupted catching people living within the area and other passerby unaware and completely dazed.
