Fire Razes Private Residence Of FCT Minister Of State

The private residence of Dr Mariya Mahmoud, the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was in the afternoon of Sunday, February 25, 2024 razed by fire.

The cause of the fire incident was not known at the time of the report. The Media aide of Mahmoud however told Forefront that that there were people in the house when the fire started but none was hurt.

However, information pieced together indicated that no item was salvaged from the House situated at No. 9, Justice Roseline Ukeji close, Asokoro as a result of the slow response of Fire Fighters to arrive at the scene of the raging fire that could not be put under control.

Though no official statement has been issued over the incident, the Spokesperson to the FCT Minister of State, Mr. Austine Elemue told Forefront News on a telephone that there was no casualty recorded as the people in the house at the time the fire engulfed the residence were able to leave unhurt, adding that the investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
