BY COBHAM NSA – The much-touted fresh start in the country’s revenue administration officially flags off today, January 1, 2026 with the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) replacing the now rested Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
To herald its entry as a major fiscal player on the nation’s economic stage, the NRS on Wednesday unveiled its institutional brand identity in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
Speaking at the logo unveiling ceremony, Executive Chairman of NRS, Zacch Adedeji, explained that the insignia and other brand elements for the Service represent an important milestone in the evolution of Nigeria’s revenue administration framework.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser (Media), Dare Adekanmbi, the NRS boss is quoted as saying: “the unveiling of the NRS identity reflects a renewed commitment to a more unified, efficient, and service-oriented revenue system, one that is aligned with Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda and global best practices.”
The statement further said the new identity “signals continuity of purpose, strengthened institutional capacity, and a forward-looking approach to supporting taxpayers and national development.”
Offering insights on its operations, the statement said; “The Nigeria Revenue Service remains committed to transparency, partnership, and service excellence.
“The unveiling of this new identity represents not an end, but the beginning of a strengthened relationship between the revenue authority and the Nigerian public—built on trust, clarity, and shared prosperity.”
It is on record that the NRS came into existence in June 2025 following the signing of its enabling law, known as the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Act 2025, by President Bola Tinubu
