BY UBON EKANEM, CALABAR – The Cross River State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Chris Ettah, as the new State Chairman of the ruling party.

Etta got the nod at the recent State Congress supervised by National Working Committee (NWC) members led by Mr Samuel Yandap with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials attending as observers.

The Congress also produced Pastor (Dr) Patrick Asikpo Okon as the new State Secretary of APC. He had served as the Secretary of the Calabar South Local Government Council during the administration of former Governor Donald Duke.

Addressing delegates at the Congress, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, who witnessed proceedings, expressed delight over the peaceful conduct of the exercise, acknowledging that managing human affairs is not a tea party and must be taken seriously.

Noting that the task ahead of the new state Exco committee members is quite enormous, Prince Otu urged them to strive at recording landmark achievements that would leave indelible marks in the minds of party faithfuls.

In his acceptance speech, the new APC Chairman, Hon Chris Ettah, who is from Boki Local Government Area of the State, described the Congress as a productive concept that has yielded positive results.

He pledged his determination, with the State Working Committee (SWC) members’ support, to ensure that party guidelines are strictly adhered to while also giving a listening ear to views expressed by the vast majority of party members across the State.
