In a move considered by political analysts as rewarding loyalty, President Bola Tinubu has promoted Ibrahim Kabir Masari from Senior Special Assistant to Special Adviser on Political Affairs.

Announcing the elevation in a statement on Thursday, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said: “As a Special Adviser, Masari will work alongside Alhaji Yau Darazo, whom Tinubu appointed in July 2023”

The Katsina-born politician, seen by many as a close ally of President Tinubu, was first appointed as Senior Special Assistant in 2023 for the same position before this latest development.

Also, he had previously served as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Welfare Secretary during the tenure of Senator Adams Oshiomhole as National Chairman of the ruling Party.

Masari has been a key figure in Tinubu’s political circle and played significant roles in APC activities, particularly in the North-West geo-political zone

In the presidential pecking order, the Special Adviser position is higher than the Senior Special Assistant portfolio as Special Advisers are typically saddled with more strategic responsibilities with direct access to the President for consultations on issues relating to their briefs as well as other sundry state matters.

Forefront News recalls that Alhaji Kabir Ibrahim Masari trended on social media as the running mate of the then APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. He was later confirmed as a place holder for the current Vice President Shettima Kashim
