Former Minister of Information, Prince Tony Momoh, Dies At 81

BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – Former Minister of Information and Culture, Prince Tony Momoh, is dead.

Prince Momoh was believed to have died peacefully at about 5:00pm on Monday at the age 81 in his Abuja home without any form of illness. Prince Momoh, who served as Minister during the regime of military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, was noted for his very popular “Letter to my countrymen”.

A close family source told Forefront on telephone that the Late Prince Tony Momoh, was until his death, the Yerima of Auchi Sacred Kingdom.

He was an astute Journalist and a lawyer,who rose to the position of editor and later General Manager of the defunct Daily Times newspaper of Nigeria before his appointment as Minister of Information.

Prince Momoh was also National Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) which later fused with other political parties to form the All Progressives Congress (APC).
