Former NNPC GMD, Maikanti Baru Is Dead
The immediate past Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru is dead.
Dr Maikanti Baru, who is the 18 GMD of the NNPC died early hours of Saturday in his home town of Misau, Bauchi State. The cause of his death was not stated.
The news of his death was confirmed by the GMD of the NNPC, Dr Mele Kyari on his Twitter handle.
It was gathered that the remains of the Late Baru would be buried this morning in accordance with Islamic rites.
Born in July 1959 in Misau, Bauchi State, the Late Baru attended Federal Government College, Jos for his secondary education where he graduated in 1978 and later obtained his Bachelor degree in Engineering from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1982. Baru later obtained a doctorate in Computer Aided Engineering from the University of Sussex.
The Late Baru was Group Managing Director of the NNPC from July 2015 to July 2019.
