Four-Storey Hotel Collapses In Abuja, 20 Persons Feared Trapped

More than 20 persons are feared trapped in the rubble of a four-storey hotel building that collapsed on Monday in Dape area of Life Camp, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

The building, still under construction as of the time of the collapse, is reportedly owned by one of the top hospitality industry operators in the nation’s capital.

An eyewitness account indicated that the hotel, with a huge underground facility, had no fewer than 20 persons trapped as the building came crashing down due to what insiders described as “structural defects”.

With the cry for help echoing around the incident site, emergency responders and security personnel were seen busy mobilising to the site for immediate rescue operations.

And as of the time of this report, information on the number of victims, especially workers trapped in the wreckage were still unknown.

According to one of the responders, it was actually difficult for any of the Emergency organizations involved in the operations to give an official figure on the possible casualties from the incident.
