BY OUR CORRESPONDENT – Amid complaints of engaging in political vendetta, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State says the new administration is too focused on rebranding the State to be distracted by wild and baseless accusations.

He said the developmental progress of the state remains uppermost in the minds of his government and no negative campaigns from the opposition will derail the laudable path of sustainable socio-economic growth that will be earnestly pursued in the next four years.

The Governor, who spoke when the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, paid him a Sallah homage in Kano, urged critics to patiently keep the performance records of the administration and effectively judge him at the end of his tenure.

The governor said the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)-led government remains committed to refuse evacuation and management, assuring that no efforts would be spared in ensuring adequate sanitation is maintained in the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, told Governor Yusuf that the emirate had established a strong vigilante committee to enhance security of lives and property within its domain.

The Royal Father also assured the Governor of the Emirate’s readiness and commitment to fully support the new administration and ensure it succeeds in the task of improving the lots of Kano people going forward.

Governor Yusuf’s submission comes against the backdrop of controversies trailing his administration’s policy reversals, and suspension of the salaries of civil servants employed by the administration of immediate past Governor Abdullahi Gunduje.

Similarly, there has been huge condemnation and outcry against the demolition of structures erected on public owned lands within the Governor’s first 30 days in office.
