The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says about 73 stolen vehicles were recovered across Nigeria in 2024 through its National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) portal.

According to the Corps, the achievement was due to intelligence-driven operations conducted in collaboration with other security agencies in the country.

A statement signed by the FRSC’s Spokesperson, Olusegun Ogungbemide, further explained that the recovered vehicles were intercepted at the point of registration, which effectively prevented them from being integrated into the system.

The statement read thus; “The 73 stolen vehicles recovered are in the category of four Toyota Highlander, one Toyota Lexus, 21 Toyota Corolla, 17 Toyota Camry, six Toyota Sienna, six Lexus 350, three Lexus ES350, one Toyota Hilux, one Toyota RAV4, one Toyota Celica, one Toyota Venza, one Suzuki Bus, one Honda Pilot, one Honda Ace, two Honda Accord, one Daihatsu, one M/Benz Car, one Man Truck, one Pontiac Vibe and two Qlink motorcycle.”

Additionally, Ogungbemide said the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, is full of praise for the Corps’ personnel whose dedication and professionalism in ensuring road safety and security have been top-notch nationwide.

The statement while stressing the importance of accurate vehicle registration details, said proper documentation has a crucial role to play in intelligence gathering and vehicle recovery.

This is as the FRSC also reiterated its resolve to make Nigerian roads safer with members of the public urged to support the Corps’ efforts in crime prevention and road safety management in the country at all times.
